RP and Me

Me? I’m one of the lucky ones in my family. As a child I watched my Grandfather struggle with Retinitis in his last years. I felt so bad for him.

As a teenager I saw how hard it was for my younger Brother to deal with the teasing he encountered when the other kids didn’t understand that the ball hit him in the face because he couldn’t see it, or when he couldn’t see the ball by his feet because of blind spots in his peripheral vision!

Today, as an adult, I watch as my Mom struggles in a big city where hardly anyone understands what it may be like to cross the street with their eyes closed.

I have seen the way RP affects people of all ages, from many generations. I feel very lucky to have good vision. The Help the Blind .com website is here to show my support for the victims of RP and their families and to offer some help in getting society to better understand retinal degenerative diseases.
